CALLING ALL K-6th GRADE TEACHERS!

Are You Looking For Ways to Strengthen Your Students' Understanding of Friendship and Acceptance of Differences?

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

The Push: A Story of Friendship

When Marcus moved next door to John, they knew instantly they’d be friends. Now John and Marcus do almost everything together. They go on lots of adventures, with Marcus pushing John’s wheelchair and John fueling their escapades with jokes. Through their friendship, the boys discover that their unique gifts make them stronger together.

Based on the friendship of real-life best friends Patrick Gray and Justin Skeesuck, The Push teaches kids that people of all abilities have important roles to play and that together we’re better than we are on our own.

"A well written, beautifully illustrated book about friendship. The words touch you deeply and share a friendship we all dream of having. I love that a child’s disability is not seen as a barrier to friendship in anyway. Soon to be a classic. Well done Patrick and Justin and Matt👏🏻"

This book should be in every classroom in the United States

Greetings K-6 Teachers and Administrators!

Both Justin and I come from strong education families and the elementary classroom is near and dear to our hearts. When I wrote The Push: A Story of Friendship, I wanted to help children explore the power of friendship, discover the beauty found in all people, and learn that there is no challenge too great to overcome when we allow others to be a part of our lives.

The words in The Push demonstrate what I long for every child to experience in life. But just as important is the artwork. To have my best friend (who can’t use his hands) co-illustrate this book using his voice, a pen and tablet, and a little math is a blessing. Each image was chosen to pull readers into the story. Just as the characters of The Push learn they can do more together than on their own, the words combined with the images of The Push create a story far more powerful than anything Justin or I could create on our own.

School is a place to explore new ideas, learn new ways of thinking, and prepare for the world. So we put our heads together to figure out a way to bring The Push into the classroom.

With the help of elementary school teachers, we created a unique lesson plan to accompany our NEW children's book The Push: A Story of Friendship.

We hope you enjoy it!

Sincerely,

Patrick Gray
